Homemade Hand Lotion

Winter is here or at least I think it is. It was rather nice today and in the next couple of days it’s supposed to be in the 50s here in Fishers, IN. That being said, maybe your hands aren’t as dry as mine but soon it will be getting cold enough to dry out your hands, feet and even leave dry patches.

I was touring the Internet the other night and found a glorious recipe for homemade hand lotion. This stuff is amazing!

After I convinced the hubby that it’d be more economical to make it at home, I went out the bought the supplies. The most expensive item in this recipe is the Vitamin E cream. I got two 4 oz containers and they were $11. However, this recipe makes 32 oz of hand cream and a little goes a long way.

I know my blog is supposed to be about food but this just goes to show you can do more in your kitchen than cook and that sometimes the best recipes don’t turn out good food but hand lotion!

Homemade Hand Lotion

Ingredients

15 oz Baby Lotion, any kind or sent

8 oz Vitamin E Cream

8 oz Petroleum Jelly

Directions

Mix all of the ingredients in a glass, ceramic or stainless steel mixing bowl with an electric mixer until it starts to look like cake icing. I just used my hand mixer.

Put about half of the mixture into a plastic baggie, let all of the air out and seal the bag. Cut off a very small portion of one of the bottom corners.

You can eliminate this process if you are just putting it all in a big bottle or container. The baggie method works best if you putting the mixture into smaller squeeze containers for gifts and whatnot.

Put the mixture into containers and give as gifts or keep all for yourself! Note: A little goes a long way.

Reminder: Make sure to wash any kitchen items used to mix the lotion in a dish liquid that has grease fighters in it and use HOT water.
